You would also want to consider the CPU, RAM, DVD/CD drives, hard disk storage, graphics cards, and other peripherals. The bigger size notebooks will usually be faster, more powerful, and have more built in extras.

Currently, many notebooks on the market comes with Dual core CPUs that are much faster than single core CPUs (like the Celeron M or the Sempron) and will allow you to do things faster. If you want an even faster notebook, then you can get a notebook with a Core 2 Duo or even a Quad core processor, but they are more expensive.

How much memory the notebook comes with is another consideration when choosing a laptop computer. The more RAM you have, the more things you can do. The typical laptop today comes with about 2 to 3 Gigabytes (GB) of memory. The memory can be cheaply and easily expanded if you know where to find a good deal and you know how to upgrade it by yourself.

Drive storage is another thing you will want to look at. You will want a lot of storage if you want to store videos or music on your laptop. DVD/CD RW are also needed if you plan on burning music CDs or your home movies on DVDs on the go. Some of the higher end model notebooks even come with a Blu-ray player so you can watch Blu-ray HD movies. If you are planning to use your laptop for heavy gaming, look for a notebook that has a separate, instead of an integrated graphics card.

These days, it is not hard to find cheap desktop computers. However, in today’s busy life, portable computers are quickly becoming a hot commodity. If you know how to look for great deals, you can easily get a laptop that can do most of the things you need for a great price.
