no internet connection?
I have Cox HS Internet and about 2 hours ago I was working on the computer and the internet connection dropped. Ever since I’ve been trying to figure out what went wrong and can’t seem to figure it out. I have a router, but I also tried connecting PC directly into modem with ethernet cable and still no internet. Our cabletv through Cox is fine. The model of the modem is Scientific Atlanta 2100. I can access router but not the modem when I’m connected to the router. when connected directly to the modem, sometimes I can access modem, but still no internet. Right now i’m using an unsecured network. I’ve also tried turning off power to modem and router; no connection. i’ve also tried pushing the reset button on the back; no connection.
PLEASE HELP!!!
PS: The PC light on the modem is Flashing Green. Cable & Power light is on. Send & Receive sometimes on sometimes off…

Try renewing your DHCP lease. In ME and earlier versions of Windows:
1. Click Start and then Run.
2. Type winipfcp in the Open field, then click OK.
3. Click the down arrow and select your PC’s Ethernet adapter to get the IP configuration window.
4. Click Release, then Renew (you should get a new IP address at this point), then OK to close the window.
In Windows 2000, NT, or XP:
1. Open a Command Prompt (DOS) window.
2. At the C:/ prompt, type ipconfig/release and press Enter.
3. Type ipconfig/renew and press Enter. You should get a new IP address.
4. Click the X in the upper right to close the window.
If that doesn’t work, reset the modem. On its back, you’ll find a small hole, labeled “reset.” Press it in with a paperclip for a second or so, then release.
If that doesn’t work, it’s time to call Cox.
PS – Thanks for providing info about the modem model, status of the lights, etc. Often, important info like this is omitted from questions, which makes helping people very difficult.
