What is the best gaming pc i should buy?
My girlfriend just discovered WoW, and she wants to play with me so i want to buy another gaming computer so she can play some other games with me, prefrably cheap! a list of parts and where to buy them would be nice to:P i live in melbourne btw
WoW really doesn’t have very high system requirements. Just about anything above an entry level computer will do fine.
Another option is to buy yourself a new computer, and give her your old one as a hand-me-down.
Simple Shopping list
CPU – Centrino dual-core anything will be fine.
RAM – 2GB, minimum.
Video card – do not get anything that uses shared memory. This means also means avoiding any and all systems that use an integrated video chip. Any card with 128MB on board memory should be fine for WoW.
If you can still get XP, 2GB of RAM is all you need. Otherwise, if you’ve got Vista, think about bumping the RAM to 4GB at some point – Vista is really memory hungry.
A faster CPU will only help so much. A quad core processor won’t help run WoW any faster – in fact you’d be better off putting that extra money towards a better monitor – after all that’s the main piece of the computer she’s going to be staring at.
Don’t spend a fortune on a video card. Again, a 128MB card should be plenty. More memory on the card can help with graphics, but WoW isn’t very graphics intensive anyways. And don’t even think about SLI – it’s just a waste of money. I guarantee that in 3-6 months, any SLI system will be out-performed by a single card system when the next generation of cards comes out. Just make sure the card can support the resolution of the monitor you get and you should be fine.
